Easy-to-adjust air bag lets you customize this ball mount to get the smoothest possible ride. Air bag and cushioned bumpers absorb road shock, reduce chucking, and help protect your truck and trailer from unnecessary wear and tear.

Notes:
Have you ever hit a bump while towing and had that road shock jostle and shake you all the way down to your bones? It's a common feeling. Most ball mounts are made almost completely of metal, so there's nothing to help soften the shock when you hit a bump. This results in a bumpy, jerky ride that not only takes a toll on you as you drive, but it beats up your equipment too, leading to premature wear and tear on both your truck and trailer.
Fortunately, the Shocker Hitch Air will change all that.
Using a built-in air bag and rubber cushions, the Shocker Hitch Air acts like a small suspension system between your truck and trailer. The air bag and bumpers help absorb road shock, creating a smoother, more comfortable ride while also protecting your truck and trailer from unnecessary wear and tear on the brakes, chassis, trailer frame, and suspensions.
The body of the Shocker Hitch Air is designed to pivot back and forth on the shank, kind of like a seesaw or teeter totter, as the air bag, which sits directly beneath your truck's receiver, and the cushioned bumpers take turns absorbing the road shock.
When you hit a bump and your trailer bounces, the unit pivots so that the air bag can isolate and absorb the energy. When your trailer jerks forward or backward, the 2 cushioned bumper stops help soften the force.
Using the easily accessible air valve on the side of the unit, you can adjust the air pressure in the Shocker Air's air bag to best accommodate your trailer's load. If you're hauling heavy-duty landscaping equipment, for example, you can add air to account for the increased capacity. Once the equipment is unloaded, simply release some air so that your underloaded trailer won't experience a stiff ride.
Finding the right pressure for your setup is simple. Once you've hooked up your trailer and the tongue weight is pushing down on the hitch ball, there will be a gap between the top of the adjustable channel and bumper.
Inflate the air bag until the bumper rests flush against the top of the hitch. Once the gap is gone, you'll know the air bag has the appropriate amount of air pressure for your load.
If you happen to get stuck in a situation where you're unable to inflate the bag, there's no need to worry; you can still tow your trailer. Without the inflated air bag, you won't get the full benefit of the Shocker Hitch Air, but you'll still get some built-in cushion with the bumper stops.
Adjusting the height of the hitch ball to accommodate for a different trailer takes almost no time at all. Just unclip the adjustment pins and grab the easy-to-grasp handles to remove them. Then slide the ball platform up or down to the desired position. Once you have the correct height, reinsert the pins and secure the clips, and fold back the handles so they're out of the way. Then you're ready to go.

Hi, everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look at the Shocker Hitch Air Ball Mount for your two-inch trailer hitch receiver. Now, this shock-absorbing ball mount is going to give you superior comfort while towing by reducing road shock and chucking using airbag and bumper-stop technologies. Now, this does have a gross towing weight of 12,000 pounds and a tongue weight of 1,200 pounds, and a few things that I wanna point out before we continue with our demonstration here. This will not fit SUVs, CUVs, or sedans due to limited clearance, and this will not fit a 2 1/2-inch trailer hitch receiver even with a reducer sleeve, because trucks with a 2 1/2-inch hitch typically have deeper frames. This does require five inches of clearance below the bottom of your receiver tube, and this does require a minimum of seven inches of clearance between the center of the hitch pin hole and the rear most part of your truck.
Now, the receiver opening should be flushed with your bumper or protruding from the rear of the vehicle for the best fit. But as I mentioned, this hitch does feature an airbag, it is an industrial-strength airbag, and then cushioned bumper stops right there at the top, as you can see right there. And so these are going to work together to dampen chucking and road shock, and this air hitch works like a teeter-totter with the airbag on one end and your trailer coupler on the other end, so as your trailer exerts force downward, this unit is going to pivot, and the airbag is going to absorb the energy, and then when your trailer jerks backwards or pushes forward, the two cushioned bump stops here at the top are going to reduce the force for a smoother ride. Now, this airbag is easily adjustable, and looking for the valve here, there we go. So, for heavier loads, you're gonna add more air, for lighter loads, you're gonna let some air out, so you got the Schrader valve right there.
And obviously this connects your trailer to your tow vehicle with this included 2 5/16-inch hitch ball, and this raised ball mount. This is going to give you a drop and rise of about two inches, and this is going to be very easy to adjust. I'm just gonna go ahead and remove these clips here and pins, and the rings are pretty large, and so they're gonna be very easy to grasp and hold onto. Talking about the rings here on the pins, I can fit up to four of my fingers through those pins, through the rings rather, and so that's going to allow me to easily adjust this wherever I want, so I'm just gonna move it down here. And so as you can see, this is gonna be very easy to adjust.
You can actually fold those rings back too if they're in your way. You're not gonna be struggling at the back of your truck to get that adjustment that you're looking for, and so you can see just how you can even be wearing gloves and you're gonna be able to easily adjust those pins and clips to get that height adjustment that you're looking for. Now, the distance between our vertical adjustment holes is right at one inch on center. The ball is zinc-plated to resist rust and corrosion, and the platform itself is powder-coated, so I think this is gonna hold up really well for you. We do have a zerk fitting here on the other side here to keep that pivot point greased up, so that's gonna be very easy to maintain this.
And this is constructed of Grade 50 steel plate construction and cold-rolled steel shank to give you that maximum durability, and it has been shot-blasted and power-coated to prevent rust and Shocker's updated finish, it's kind of a textured powder coat, so it looks great. I think it's gonna hold up really well for you. The hitch pin hole diameter is 5/8 of an inch, and as you can see, a hitch pin and clip are also included with this, which is great. And the distance from the center of our first hitch pin hole to the center of our ball is about 10 1/4 inches, and from the center of the second hitch pin hole to the center of the ball, about 11 1/4 inches. Now, if you decide that this is going to be exactly what you need, after you get it installed on the back of your truck, let us know how you're gonna be using this. You can leave a review, you can drop us an email, you can give us a call, and we would even love to see pictures of your towing setup with this included. Well, that's gonna wrap up our quick look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy, thank you for joining me.
Quality product and service! It fits my truck like a glove and I can't wait to put it on my camper. I had a question and Jason was responsive answering my phone call getting the answer I needed. The hitch is solid and looks like it will last.
Excellent products, shipping, and customer support!
Great addition to my towing capabilities! This Shocker Hitch takes the jolt out of hauling heavy loads and quiets the ride of an empty trailer. The two-pin ball release is quick to swap out for other sizes that are needed for different trailers.
